(Dedham, MA; May 18, 2009)—WS Development today announced that L.L.Bean will be the first store to open at Legacy Place, the 675,000 square foot lifestyle center opening this summer in Dedham, MA. L.L.Bean is scheduled to open July 24 and plans a weekend long celebration for customers. The outdoor apparel and equipment retailer is opening just before the shopping center officially opens on August 20.
At Legacy Place, the 30,000 square foot L.L.Bean will feature a multitude of sustainability initiatives, including high-efficiency plumbing fixtures, zero CFC-based refrigerants, locally manufactured fixtures and building materials, occupancy sensors in non-regularly occupied areas to regulate climate control, reclaimed wood, Energy Star-rated equipment and appliances, and low VOC paints, carpet and adhesives. The store will also include a recycling program and a shower and changing room for employees that bike to work.
The two-level store will feature an abundance of natural light from large windows, of which several will open allowing natural air to flow into the store. Inside, the store’s lighting system will work in conjunction with daylight responsive light controls to save energy throughout the day.
