Roster Opens at Legacy Place

(Dedham, MA; July 2, 2010)—WS Development is pleased to announce today that Roster opened at Legacy Place, the 675,000 square foot shopping center located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 128 in Dedham, MA. Roster offers a wide selection of sports lifestyle apparel, which combines fashion, lifestyle brands, and licensed team product together for the first time.

Roster carries leading sports lifestyle brands such as Touch by Alyssa Milano, ’ 47 Brand, Reebok Retro Sport, Adidas Originals, Majestic Select, Original Retro Brand, College Concepts, and more. Its fashionable, high-quality merchandise features Boston’s professional sports teams such as the Red Sox and Celtics.

“The sports lifestyle category is a new phenomenon, and we’re the only store bringing this type of product to market,” said Tom Emmons, Executive Vice President, Roster. ”Our clothing items are fun, comfortable, and casual, and our retro designs offer a particularly unique look.”

While sports apparel is typically geared toward the male audience, Roster carries a wide selection for women.

“Our women’s line is very important; it’s all about fashion and quality. A woman can express her team allegiance wearing something that’s made specifically for her,” said Emmons. “And, for men, we offer something that’s a significant upgrade from your typical licensed apparel.”

Today, sports lifestyle manufacturers are looking to this category to add a new dimension to the traditional sports licensed market.

“Until now, most licensed product has been sold through your average sporting goods stores,” added Emmons. “Sports lifestyle merchandisers such as Touch by Alyssa Milano want to sell its more fashionable lines in boutiques. That’s where Roster comes in.”

While this is only Roster’s second store, the company’s foundation is built upon a 30-year history. In fact, its founder signed the first specialty lease at Faneuil Hall Marketplace back in 1974. Since then, Roster’s the parent company, Color Inc., has grown to 45 stores, including ten in downtown Boston and eight more in and around Faneuil Hall.

“Roster’s fashion-forward approach to team apparel is perfect for the area’s better demographic,” said Brian Sciera, VP Lifestyle Centers, WS Development. “With such a huge sports following in the Boston area, Roster hits the bull’s-eye.”

“We’re a company with a passion for retail, and we’re thrilled to open at Legacy Place,” said Emmons.

Roster has an existing location at Natick Collection. At Legacy Place, Roster is located between H&M and Express, just a few doors down from the newly opened Yard House restaurant.
